The madrasa student reported the incident of rape by sending a note to the house
Police have arrested the principal of a madrasa in Dhaka’s Savar Upazila for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl. He was arrested from Mirpur in the capital last Thursday night. He confessed to the rape and testified in court on Friday, police said.
The name of the arrested madrasa principal is Touhid bin Azhar (45).
According to Ashulia Police, Principal Touhid bin Azhar lives on the ground floor part of the two-story Madrasa building in Ashulia. The students live on the second floor along with the other part. On the morning of January 6, the principal called a 12-year-old girl to his room to make tea. The principal then raped the girl. But the student could not inform her parents as the resident could not get out of the madrasa. He later informed the parents by sending a note through a classmate. After learning about the matter, the student’s father filed a case against the principal at Ashulia Police Station on Wednesday.
Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Al Mamun said Principal Touhid bin Azhar was arrested from Mirpur on Thursday night after the case was filed. He was produced before the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He confessed to the rape in his statement under section 164. After giving his confession, the court sent him to jail.
