If the Prime Minister takes the vaccine first, confidence will be created among the people: Jafrullah

Jafrullah Chowdhury, the founder of the public health center, has called on the Prime Minister to vaccinate in front of the media first to build trust among the people. He also mentioned that everyone should be vaccinated.

Jafrullah Chowdhury made the call at a discussion titled ‘Proper Management of Corona Ticker’ at Public Health Nagar Hospital in the capital on Friday.

Jafrullah Chowdhury said if the Prime Minister gets vaccinated first, confidence will be created among the people. But the vaccine is scientifically true, all people should take it.

The founder of the public health center said that a large part of the population of Bangladesh is poor. They are not familiar with online technology. It will be difficult for them to register in the apps for Ticker. Another broker will be created to fill the apps. The work will be much easier if the national identity card is used to get rid of the embarrassment.

If possible, he will be vaccinated first. Regarding the statement of the finance minister, Jafrullah Chowdhury said, first he has to do another job without getting vaccinated. The finance minister said he had a surplus of 43 billion, from which he could allocate half a billion dollars for research and vaccine production. Then by producing vaccines in the country to meet the needs of all as well as other countries can cooperate.

“I will take the vaccine,” Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told reporters on Thursday. Of course, I will. If necessary, I will vaccinate first. I’m old, I need a vaccine. I will take whatever the government brings. ‘ He said this in response to the question of online journalists after the meeting of the procurement committee.

The founder of the public health center complained that Bangladesh was buying vaccines at a higher price than India.

The Seram Institute of India has produced a vaccine called ‘Kovishield’. This vaccine is being bought by the Bangladesh government from the Seram Institute of India. Beximco Pharmaceuticals will provide the vaccine to the government. There is a tripartite agreement between Serum, Beximco, and the government. According to the agreement, a total of three crore vaccines will come to the country for Rs 50 lakh in six months. The first shipment may arrive on January 25 or 26.

Jafrullah Chowdhury asked the government to be careful about the counterfeiting and adulteration of ticks. He said as long as the government does not provide these three crore doses, it should not be allowed to import vaccines privately.

Member of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Corona and former Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr. Nazrul Islam said, ‘Usually first-generation vaccine is not taken. Now we have less time to take the first-generation vaccine.

Nazrul Islam said the vaccine would also be effective in the converted coronavirus. However, this effect will not last more than six months.

Also present at the meeting were Prof. Zakir Hossain, former Director, Primary Health Care, and Disease Control Center, Department of Health, Prof. Sayedur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, BSMMU, Mahibullah Khandaker, Vice President, Public Health Society-based Medical College, Jahangir Alam, Press Adviser, Public Health.
